    2013 Winners – Team 135

    21 November, 02:49, by admin

Congrats to Team 135, named for the GS Parkway exit near Westfield/Clark, NJ from which they hail. Here is a recap provided by their leader Dave Lisooey.

The championship was a rematch of our first game of the day which we lost by 2 goals. We thought we played poorly, (throwing the ball away, missing GBs, missing assignments) in that game and were hoping to get a shot at redemption. We went into the 3rd game against the Northmen knowing that if we won, we would get the rematch, Matt Shin told us to “JUST BE AWESOME”. We owed them for knocking us out last year.

In the final game, we stuck with the “JUST BE AWESOME” mantra and jumped out to 4-0 lead (with goals from LiSooey, Robel, Vitale and Wertheimer). We hit a little wall from playing back to back and Black Banana responded, they scored 5 unanswered and it was 4 to 5 at the half. In the second half co-MVPs Mike Robel and Bruno Parente took over. Mike scored the tying and go ahead goal, while Bruno held Big Banana scoreless in the final half.

Congrats to both teams on an evenly matched hard fought game!
